Delhi Capitals
Prior to IPL 2025, Delhi Capitals have made a big announcement. Delhi Capitals appointed former England white-ball coach Matthew Mota as Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. This appointment has been done at a time when there is less than 1 month left for IPL 2025 to begin. 51 -year -old Mot will assist former India cricketer Hemang Badani, who was appointed the head coach of Delhi Capitals in October last year. Matthew Motes will join Delhi Capital’s associate staff along with Cricket Director Venugopal Rao and bowling coach Munaf Patel.
After a very successful tenure with the Australian women’s cricket team, Mota became the white-ball coach of the England men’s team in 2022. In her coaching, Australia’s women’s team won two T20 World Cup, one ODI Cup and four Ashes series in 7 years. He resigned from the post of England coach in July last year after winning the T20 World Cup title in Australia in 2022.
Big changes in Delhi
Mot also worked as an assistant coach of Kolkata Knight Riders during the first two seasons of the IPL. Delhi Capitals, who are still looking for their first IPL title, have made major changes in their coaching staff before the new session. He has replaced former Indian player Badani as head coach in place of veteran Australian cricketer Ricky Ponting, while former Indian fast bowler and 2011 World Cup winning team member Munaf has been appointed as his bowling coach.
IPL debut from 22 March
Delhi Capitals will launch their IPL campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Visakhapatnam on 24 March. The IPL 2025 will start from March 22 while the final will be played in Kolkata on 25 May. The Delhi team will play the first match against Mumbai Indians on 13 April at their home i.e. Arun Jaitley Stadium.
