Nick Pothas: Resigned from the post of assistant coach of Bangladesh team.
There is now about a month left for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 to start, so out of the 8 teams participating in it, six have announced their squads. One name included in this is that of Bangladesh cricket team, who has suffered a big setback before the start of the tournament. Assistant coach Nick Pothas, part of the coaching staff of the Bangladesh team, resigned from his post on 17 January. Nick Pothas became a part of the Bangladesh coaching staff in the year 2023.
Nick cited family reasons
Nick Pothas was to remain on the post of assistant coach with the Bangladesh team till the year 2026, but he has cited family reasons for suddenly leaving the team. Information about Nick Pothas’s resignation was given by Shahryar Nafees, in-charge of Bangladesh Cricket Operation, in which he said that yes, his contract was till the year 2026 but he has left the post due to family reasons. Nick’s statement has also come out in which he said that like all good things, this too must end. I have had a great time being with the Bangladesh cricket team. During this period we have broken many records and also created history. Now it’s time for the next chapter in life to see what it brings. Bangladesh team will play its first match in Champions Trophy on 20th February.
Bangladesh team is part of Group-A in Champions Trophy 2025 in which they have to play their first match against Indian team on 20th February at Dubai ground. After this, they have to play their second match against New Zealand on the ground of Rawalpindi on 24th February, whereas in the group stage, Bangladesh team will play its third and last match against the host Pakistan on the ground of Rawalpindi.
