Big news has come out regarding IPL 2025. BCCI has taken a big decision regarding IPL. The 2025 season of IPL will start from March 21 in which the code of conduct of the highest cricket body International Cricket Council (ICC) will be followed. BCCI Vice President and former IPL President Rajiv Shukla gave this information. According to Rajiv Shukla, the upcoming season of IPL will start from March 23 but a senior member of the Governing Council clarified that it will start only on March 20 or 21. 74 matches will be played in the 2025 season, which is the same as in the previous three seasons.
The decision to adhere to the ICC Code of Conduct was taken during the meeting on Sunday, January 12. A member of the steering committee said on the condition of confidentiality that from now on in the IPL, ICC sanctioned fines will be imposed for level one, two and three level violations. Earlier IPL had its own code of conduct, but now it will be followed by the playing conditions as per ICC T20 International rules. Information has also come to light that the Women’s Premier League (WPL) will be organized in four cities. WPL matches will be played in Lucknow, Mumbai, Baroda and Bengaluru. The 2025 WPL is expected to be held between February 7 and March 2.
BCCI appointed new secretary
BCCI also got a new secretary in the Special General Meeting (SGM) of BCCI. Devjit Saikia and Prabhtej Singh Bhatia were elected unopposed as Secretary and Treasurer. Both these posts were lying vacant after the resignation of Jai Shah and Ashish Shelar. Saikia and Bhatia were elected unopposed as they were the only candidates to file nominations for these vacant posts. Shah had to step down as secretary after becoming the ICC chairman last month while Shelar had resigned from the post of BCCI treasurer after taking oath as a cabinet minister in the Maharashtra government.
Saikia is from Assam and Bhatia is from Chhattisgarh. After Shah became ICC chairman on December 1, Saikia was performing additional responsibilities as secretary. He was Joint Secretary and now this post has become vacant. Saikia is from Assam and Bhatia is from Chhattisgarh.
