Banks will be closed for three consecutive days from 9 May to 11 May 2025 in West Bengal. This long weekend is falling due to the birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the second Saturday and Sunday. May 9 (Friday): Rabindranath Tagore Jayanti
Nobel laureate and great Bengal poet Rabindranath Tagore is being celebrated on 9 May. Banks, government offices and many private institutions are closed on this occasion. Programs like music, drama and poetry recitation are organized across the state.
May 10 (Saturday): Second Saturday
According to the rules of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month across the country. Under this rule, banking service will be closed in the entire country including Bengal on May 10.
May 11 (Sunday): weekly holiday
Every Sunday, all banks across the country are closed regularly. In this way, it becomes a three -day bank holiday series in West Bengal.
May 12 (Monday): Buddha Purnima
Buddha Purnima is the most sacred festival for followers of Buddhism, which is celebrated as the birth of Lord Gautama Buddha (Bodhi) and Mahaparinirvana Day. This festival comes on the full moon of Vaishakh month and is celebrated with reverence and peace in many Asian countries including India.
