Banks will be closed on Wednesday 19 February
The holy festival of Mahashivaratri will be celebrated on 26 February, which is a special day of worshiping Lord Shiva. On this day, devotees keep fast, offer water and bell -leaf and worship Bholenath and awaken the night and recite Mahamrityunjaya Mantra and Shiva Chalisa. It is believed that the sacred marriage of Shiva-Parvati was held on this day, so it is a very auspicious opportunity for Shiva devotees. RBI has given Shivaratri holiday to many states.
Banks will be closed in which states on 26 February
Wednesday, 26 February: Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Dehradun, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kochi, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Raipur, Ranchi, Shimla, Srinagar and Thiruvananthapuram will remain closed on the occasion of Mahashivratri.
Banks weekend holidays (Saturday and Sunday)
Sunday, 16 February: Weekly holiday.
Saturday-Sunday, 22 and 23 February: Fourth Saturday and weekly holiday. Banks are closed on all national and local festivals, jubilee, Sunday of every month, second Saturday and fourth Saturdays. All bank branches are open on the first, third and fifth Saturdays.
