Friday 28 February Is losar. Losar is the main New Year festival of the Tibetan Buddhist community. This festival is celebrated with pomp in Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Buddhist dominated areas of Himachal Pradesh. Losser literally means new year. It is considered a symbol of nature, prosperity and spiritual purification. On this occasion special prayers, traditional dances, colorful processions and cultural programs are organized in the monasteries. People clean their homes, light lamps and make traditional cuisine such as Guthuka and Khabse. This festival brings a new enthusiasm for the entire Tibetan community with good crop, happiness, prosperity and peace.

Friday, 28 February: All banks in Arunachal Pradesh will remain closed due to Losar. RBI has closed banks only in Arunachal Pradesh. The rest, banks will be open in all states.
