Large festivals like Dussehra, Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath Puja, Lakshmi Puja and Bhai Dooj will be celebrated in October. This is the reason that banks have been announced in many states. Apart from this, on October 2, on the day of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, there will be a national holiday across the country, the day all the banks will remain closed.

Banks will remain closed in Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Sikkim, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Nagaland, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Meghalaya on the occasion of Dussehra, Ayudh Puja and Durga Puja (Dasain).

2 October 2025 (Thursday)

There will be a national holiday all over the country on Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. On this day, banks will remain closed in all states and union territories.

3 and 4 October 2025

Banks will remain closed only due to Durga Puja (Dasain) in Sikkim.

5 October – sunday

6 October 2025

Banks will remain closed due to Lakshmi Puja in Tripura and West Bengal.

7 October 2025

Karnataka, Odisha, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh will have a bank holiday on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kumar Purnima.
