After getting the honor after so many years, Leela Devi, 70 -year -old wife of martyr husband Ramlakhan Goyal, became emotional. Even though this honor has come after 54 years, it has brought our heart relaxed.
Let us know that there was a war between India and Pakistan in 1971. At that time, the eastern part of Pakistan, which is today’s Bangladesh, was fighting the battle of separation. India played an important role in Bangladesh’s independence and defeated the Pakistani army. Indian soldiers were also martyred in this war. It also included 12 soldiers from Bhind district. The young man brought the honor touched the martyr’s wife’s feet 70 -year -old Leela Devi Goyal, who lives in Shaheed Colony in Bhind district, said – two days ago, an army car stopped in front of her house. The soldiers who got off the car asked the house taking the name of the husband. I told my identity. Both the soldiers leaned into my feet. After this, the guard of honor, letter, shield and a special book was presented by the Government of Bangladesh.
The book had the names of all the brave sons who found Veeragati in the 1971 battle. On this occasion, Army soldiers said- Martyrs of the 1971 war are remembered every year, but this time Bangladesh decided to give a special guard of honor.
Leela Devi said- In the 1971 war, since the martyrdom of her husband, only memories have been supported. She says, then neither the body came, nor clothes, nor the last darshan.
Leela Devi said- after three years of marriage, they were martyred Leela Devi, wife of martyr Ramlakhan Goyal, said- “This honor is good, but my husband gave up life for the country. I am alone since that day. The husband was martyred only after two to three years of marriage. After the martyrdom, his body was neither found, no cloth, no cap.
Leela Devi says that I was 14 years old in those days. After marriage, I did not even have a cow, then the news of my husband’s martyr came through the wire. When the parents got the news, they brought me to the in-laws. For a year, the family waited for the husband to come back. Ojha used to ask Tantrikas. They also pledged to recite worship in temples.

Rajeshwari said- could not even see her husband for the last time The honor received after 54 years from Bangladesh made Rajeshwari, wife of Shaheed Jaisingh, emotional. Rajeshwari says, when my husband was martyred, I must have been around 13 to 14 years old and husband Jaisingh was 18-19 years old. He had been admitted to the army for only one year that the 1971 war started and he was martyred for the country.
On the cooperation received by the government, she says- initially I used to get only 133 rupees pension, but now it has increased to 40 thousand rupees. Apart from this, a house has also been found by the government. Rajeshwari said that this honor received from the Bangladesh government matters a lot to him. This honor reminds her of her martyr husband and after years she has experienced pride and satisfaction.

On the call of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, he fought together to liberate Bangladesh from the occupation of Pakistan. During the fight against enemies, many Indian armed forces soldiers along with freedom fighters were martyred in war.
As a recognition of his contribution to the freedom struggle, our government has decided to give ‘Muktia War Award’ to 1,600 martyrs of the Indian Armed Forces. Of these, I assigned this honor to the families of seven martyrs during the official visit to India on 7 April 2017.

In the historic speech of 7 March 1971, the Father of the Nation called for a struggle for the independence of Bangladesh. Bangabandhu had said, “This time the fight is a fight for our liberation, this time the battle is our freedom struggle.” He announced independence on 26 March 1971 before he was arrested. On this call of Bangabandhu, the entire country revolted against the Pakistani Army and eventually won on 16 December 1971.
