Bangladesh’s currency related to political turmoil
According to Bangladeshi media, it is associated with political upheaval. The history of Bangladesh’s currency seems to have an impact of the ruling parties from time to time.
In 1972, when Bangladesh separated from East Pakistan and gained independence, there were geographical and cultural paintings on the initial notes.
Later, pictures of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman were included on the notes, especially when his Awami League party was in power.
The new currency is being considered a step towards reducing the influence of Sheikh Hasina’s rule and to include the image of the country.

Sheikh Hasina spoke on social media on 8 April, saying that earlier Bangladesh was seen as a model of development, but now it has become a terrorist country.
