Dr. Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh, is considering resigning. They feel that it is becoming difficult to work due to lack of consensus among political parties. The BBC Bangla Service gave this information late on Thursday night quoting the student -led National Citizen Party (NCP) chief Anhid Islam.

Islam told BBC Bangla, ‘We are hearing the news of Sir (Younus) resignation since this morning. So I went to meet him to discuss this issue. He said that he is thinking about it. Yunus has expressed apprehension that they will not be able to work until the political parties agreed.

For the last two days in Bangladesh, a confrontation between the interim government and the army has come out openly. Addressing his officers at the military headquarters on Thursday, Army Chief General Waqar-e-Zama said that the general elections should not be postponed from December this year.

The Army Chief warned that the Yunus -led interim government has no moral or constitutional right to decide on sensitive national issues. This comment of the Army Chief has come at a time when mistrust between the Yunus government and the three army chiefs is increasing rapidly.
