Military Operations Directorate Director Brigadier General Mohammad Nazim-ud-Daula held a press conference at Dhaka Cantt on Monday.
The army of Bangladesh has called the speculation of the an interim government chief Mohammad Yunus in the country as a rumor. Senior officers of the Army Headquarters held a press conference at Dhaka Cantt yesterday.
During this time, the army told that there has been no such discussion and we have no such intention.
On the other hand, the army said that the issue of Rakhine Corridor was not compromised, calling it a sensitive issue. In response to a question of journalists, the army said,

The corridor is a sensitive issue. The army of Bangladesh will never be involved in any such action to compromise national security.
The dispute between the government and the government came out openly
In Bangladesh, a conflict between the interim government and the army came out in the last week. Army Chief General Waqar-e-Zama while addressing his officials at the military headquarters on 22 May, clearly stated that the general elections should not be postponed from December this year.
The Army Chief warned that the Yunus -led interim government has no moral or constitutional right to decide on sensitive national issues. On the issue of Rakhine Corridor, the army has been saying since March that it is illegal to make it without our consent.

Government-army conflict over the corridor on Myanmar border
In fact, the army and government are face to face with the alleged plan to build a human corridor in Rakhine district on the Myanmar border in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Foreign Advisor Tauheed Hussain had announced that the interim government had agreed to the Rakhine Corridor proposed by the US.
When the army came to know about this, his behalf was expressed. On May 21, Army Chief Waqar called it a bloody corridor and warned the interim government that the army of Bangladesh would never be involved in any activity that is harmful to sovereignty. Nor will anyone be allowed to do so.
After this, the Yunus government took a U-turn and said that they have not tied up with any country about the Rakhine Corridor on the Myanmar border.
Yunus will continue to remain the Chief Advisor to the Government of Bangladesh
Mohammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the government, will continue to be in his post amid the ongoing political upheaval in Bangladesh. Earlier it was believed that he could resign due to political and military pressure.
Mohammad Yunus convened a meeting of the Advisory Council on Saturday. After this meeting, Planning Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmood said- Mohammad Yunus will remain with us.
He said that we have also been given new responsibilities. According to the news agency UNB, there will be a meeting with the ministers soon after a meeting of the Advisory Council.
At the same time, Army Chief Waqar-e-Z-Zaman has clearly given an ultimatum to hold elections by December. On the other hand, discussions between opposition parties BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami are being discussed and struggle strategies on the streets.

Yunus was made the Chief Advisor after Hasina’s coup in August 2024.
Khaleda Jia also reiterated the demand for elections in December
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has also reiterated the demand for holding elections in December, increasing pressure on Younus. The party has warned that if the government does not make an election roadmap soon and makes it public announcement, then it will be difficult to continue cooperation with the government.
The head of the interim government, Yunus, has so far asked to hold elections between January-June 2026. The army is angry at pulling it forward from December 2025. Due to this, further conflicts can be intensified. Apart from Yunus, radical Jamaat-e-Islami is also in favor of postponing elections.
Sources are indicating that the government was expected to persist for five years, which has put the pressure of the army-students in a serious crisis. Advisors of the Ministry of Home Affairs have also said that the public wants this government to remain for five years. The general officials even said that if the government is adamant, the situation may be uncontrollable.
