Pakistan cricket team
In the first match of the Champions Trophy 2025, the Pakistani team suffered a crushing defeat against New Zealand by 60 runs. Pakistan bowlers and batsmen proved to be badly flops in this match. The Pakistani team is now to play against India on the grounds of Mahamukabala Dubai on 23 February, but before that the ICC has fined the Pakistani team. The Pakistani team has been fined five percent of the match fees to maintain a slow over rate in the match against New Zealand.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan accepted the crime
The ICC has said its press release that Pakistan was found guilty of throwing an over one over within the stipulated time. The field umpire Richard Catelboro and Sharafuddaula, third umpire Joel Wilson and TV umpire Alex Wharf made allegations. While the match referee Andy Pycroft imposed a fine and deducted five percent of the match fees. Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan admitted the crime, which did not require formal hearing.
Match is being held at three places of Champions Trophy
According to Rule 2.22, the players are fined five percent of their match fees to throw away every over within the stipulated time as per Rule 2.22 for the players and players’ support staff. Pakistan has hosted the ICC tournament for the first time since 1996. The Champions Trophy 2025 matches in Pakistan are being matched in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi.
Pakistani batsman was a flop
In the first match of the Champions Trophy 2025, New Zealand targeted Pakistan for 321 runs to win, but the Pakistani batsmen could not perform well and the entire team was reduced to just 260 runs. Babar Azam scored 64 runs and Khushdil Shah scored 69 runs for Pakistan. But these players could not win the Pakistani team. Haris Rauf proved to be the most expensive for Pakistan. He scored 83 runs in 10 overs and he could take only two wickets.
