What is hair base
Child Aadhaar card is the Aadhaar document issued for children younger than 5 years. Biometric information such as fingers and eye scans are not taken from children of this age, as this data is not stable. Only the child’s picture, name, date of birth and parents’ information are recorded in the card.
Where is the hair base formed
You can get a child base by visiting any authorized Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Many government and private hospitals also have the facility of Aadhaar enrollment at birth, where the birth certificate and Aadhaar of the child can be made simultaneously.
How to apply for hair base
The child base is made of children under 5 years of age. You can do this in both online (for appointment booking) and offline.
Online Steps (Appointment Booking)
- Go to UIDAI’s website.
- Go to ‘My Aadhaar’ and click on ‘Book An Appointment’.
- Choose your city and mobile number. OTP will come and verify it.
- Choose the date and time of visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendra or Enrollment Center.
To get a child base, the parent will have to give information about its biometric verification and Aadhaar. After processing, the hair base will be sent to your address. You can also check or download it from UIDAI website.
Offline process
- Go to the nearest base enrollment center.
- Fill the form, submit the child’s documents.
- Parents should give their biometric and base information.
- You will get an ACKNOWLEDGMENT Slip.
- It will have an enrollment ID, keep it to check the status.
- The hair base will be delivered in about 60 to 90 days.
Documents required for child base
For child base, you have a child’s birth certificate or hospital discharge slip, a parent’s Aadhaar card because the child’s Aadhaar is linked to it. Also, the address proof is required, which may be the Aadhaar of the parents or the certificate issued by the local authority.
Bare of child base
The hair base is completely free for children under 5 years of age. For this, no fee is charged on any enrollment or procedure. When the child turns 5, he will have to go to the base center to update his fingers and eye marks. This biometric update is also completely free.

When the child turns 5 years old

One has to update again at the age of 15. It contains biometric and re-enrollment of photos. If needed between 5 and 15 years, you can also go to the enrollment center and update the details at a small fee.
