Ayushman vay vandana card: The central government launched ‘Ayushman Vy Vandana Card’ in October 2024. Under this, elders over 70 years of age get cashless treatment of ₹ 5 lakhs annually. Whether or not their income is eligible for any insurance scheme or not.
This initiative was introduced as an extension of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. The scheme comes under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) and it is designed keeping in mind the elderly citizens of the country. How many people will get benefit?
There are about 6 crore senior citizens in India, whose age is 70 years or more. These are part of about 4.5 crore families. All these people will get the benefit of Ayushman Vy Vandana Card. His age will be confirmed from the age recorded in the Aadhaar card. There will be no consideration of the financial condition of the person.
Total coverage will be ₹ 10 lakh?
The most important thing about Ayushman Vy Vandana card is that it is open to every 70+ citizen. Like the earlier plan (PM-JAY), it has no obligation of income limit or socio-economic status. For those who are already getting the benefit of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, this card will serve as a top-up, which can up to ₹ 10 lakh.
This card will also be given to people associated with other government or private health insurance schemes, but they have to choose one of the current benefits or one of the scheme.
Comprehensive coverage of treatment
The scheme covers 1,961 medical procedure including 27 Specialty. The best thing for this is that it also has a provision to cover already existing diseases from day one. It is not like a common insurance, which has a waiting period of certain diseases. Cashless treatment will be provided in 30,072 listed hospitals across the country for treatment. It also includes 13,352 private hospitals.

- Knee and ax replacement surgery
- Treatment of heart disease such as PTCA and pacemaker
- Treatment of cancer and stroke

How to register and download cards
The government has released ‘Ayushman App’ for this, which can be downloaded from Google Play Store. The entire process of registration is digital. You can complete it with the help of the steps given below:
- Download ‘Ayushman App’ from Google Play Store.
- Select the ‘Login as Beneficiary’ or ‘Operator’ option.
- Enter captcha, mobile number and authentication mode.
- Login from OTP, allow the app to access location.
- Fill information related to the state and base of the beneficiary.
- If the name is not found then complete the EKYC process.
- Fill the manifesto, give all the necessary information.
- Fill PIN code and category, family members can add if you want.
After successful verification, your Ayushman Vay Vandana Card will be available for download. With this help, you can get treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in listed hospitals for free.
