Axis bank: From July 1, difficulties for Axis Bank are going to increase. The bank is going to increase its ATM charge from next month. Now customers will have to pay Rs 23 instead of 21 rupees. AXIS Bank has announced a change in ATM transactions charge for its savings and trust account holders. These changes will be implemented from 1 July 2025 and will also affect Savings Account, NRI account, Trust account and some priority and Bergandi Customer.
Now every transaction will have to pay 23 rupees
AXIS Bank said that customers who conduct extra transactions after free transaction limit will now be taken Rs 23 per transaction from them. Till now this charge was 21 rupees, that is, now you have to pay 2 rupees more. This fee will be applicable to both AXIS Bank and other banks’ ATMs. Apart from this, tax will be taken separately.
RBI’s new rule also applies
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a notification on 28 March 2025, stating that the ATM interchange fee will now be fixed. Also, if any bank customer crosses the free transaction limit from 1 May 2025, then a maximum fee of Rs 23 can be imposed on it. These rules will also apply to Cash Recycler Machines (except cash deposits).
What is ATM interchange fee?
The ATM interchange fee is the amount that gives one bank, another bank when using ATM. For example, if you are a customer of HDFC Bank and withdraw money from SBI’s ATM, HDFC has to pay interchange fees to SBI. This amount is collected from the customer many times.
How many free transactions are available?
According to RBI from 1 May 2025
In metro cities: 3 free transactions every month (mixing ATMs of your bank and other banks)
Non-Metro Cities: 5 Free Transaction Monthly
How much is the charge of other banks
HDFC Bank
Metro cities: 3 free transactions
Non-Metro: 5 Free
After that Rs 23 on withdrawal of cash and Rs 8.50 + tax on non-financial transaction
SBI (State Bank of India)
New rule from 1 February 2025
Each customer will get 5 free SBI ATM transactions and 10 free ATM transactions of other banks, irrespective of the balance or location.

If you withdraw money from ATM again and again, you should be cautious about these new charges. You can avoid extra charges by adopting options like digital payment, UPI, or net banking. This new charge of Axis Bank will have a special impact for customers who often make cash transactions. Therefore, plan your transaction in time and prioritize digital option.
