Aligarh: Controversy has arisen due to lack of permission for Holi Milan program at Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh. Hindu students living in the university campus sought permission for the Holi Milan program at AMU club on March 9, which the university administration refused to give. It was said on behalf of AMU that they cannot allow any new tradition to be started in the campus, and the way Holi is celebrated every year, students can celebrate Holi in the same way. The AMU administration said that there is no need for separate permission for this.
BJP leader said- ‘Holi in AMU is not even Eid’
Politics has also started on the decision of the university administration. BJP leader and former Mayor Shakuntala Bharti has said that Eid will not be celebrated if Holi programs are not allowed in AMU. Explain that some students studying in Aligarh Muslim University had given an application to Vice Chancellor on 25 February in which they sought permission to organize Holi Milan ceremony at the NRSC Club of the university on 9 March. The Vice Chancellor called a high level meeting in which many dean and professor were present. After the meeting, the AMU administration refused to allow it.
Students raised questions on AMU administration decision
Questioning the decision of the university administration, an AMU student Akhil Kaushal said, ‘Iftar party is organized in every hostel in every department in AMU, we have sought permission for a Holi meeting only once. Many people have trouble with that. Eid procession, Moharram procession, Chehallum procession is taken out in AMU. At the same time, AMU Proctor Professor Mohammad Wasim Ali said, ‘The students had sought permission for a special event, and because the university has never given permission for any such event, the university has maintained its status.
