Public Holiday: Schools in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana will remain closed on Wednesday, February 12. In fact, the governments of these states have declared public holiday on 12 February 2025 on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Under this decision, all government offices, schools, autonomous body and public sector undertaking will remain closed.

After this decision of the government, all schools and offices are going to be closed in cities like Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad. All government institutions and schools will remain closed, so that people can attend the celebration of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena confirmed the decision through an official circular. According to the notification, the limited holiday of the proposed Guru Ravidas Jayanti in November 2024 has now been converted into full public holiday. This decision has been taken keeping in mind the tradition of celebrating Guru Ravidas’s birth anniversary with public participation.
Importance of Guru Ravidas Jayanti
Guru Ravidas Jayanti is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the 15th century great saint and devotional poet Guru Ravidas. He was in favor of social equality, harmony and justice and his teachings are still inspiring to the society. However, despite public holidays, health services, emergency service and public facilities will continue to work according to the general holiday protocol.
