Maharashtra Liquor price: Wine will soon become expensive in Maharashtra. In the cabinet meeting led by state Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, several changes have been made in the rules for selling and making liquor. The Maharashtra government has increased excise duty on liquor. The government has taken a big decision to increase alcohol earnings. The government believes that with these steps, the state may have extra income of about Rs 14,000 crore every year.
Government takes important steps
The cabinet has approved the recommendations of a high -level committee, which has given several suggestions to know the successful models of other states. Now a control room with Artificial Intelligence will be created to monitor liquor factories and distillery in the state. This will prevent illegal trade of liquor and bring transparency in the entire system.
Office will open in these cities of Maharashtra
New offices will be opened in cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Thane and Ahilyanagar to properly implement the rules related to liquor.
Excise duty increased, alcohol will be expensive
The government has increased tax on domestic and foreign liquor, which can also increase their prices.
Country liquor will now be taxed at Rs 205 per liter. Which was earlier Rs 180 per liter.
The tax production cost on IMFL i.e. Indian Made Foreign Licker will be 4.5 times. It was three times the first.
Retail prices of alcohol will affect
Country liquor: 80 rupees
Maharashtra Made Licker (MML): Rs 148
IMFL: Rs 205
Premium liquor: Rs 360
Maharashtra Made Licker (MML) starts
The government has started a new liquor category named MML (Maharashtra Made Liquor). It will be alcohol made of grains and will be able to make it only producers of Maharashtra. This will promote local production in the state.
New licenses and more staff
Now FL-2 and FL-3 types of liquor licenses i.e. closed bottles and others with hotel/restaurant will be able to be given through the Conducting Agreement, but they will have to pay extra fees for this. The government has approved 1,223 new posts i.e. jobs to handle this entire system, so that the rules can be implemented properly.
Although the government says that these steps are necessary to increase the income of the state and to fund the public schemes such as Ladki Bahn Yojana, the opposition says that it is not right to promote alcohol. At the moment, the government’s emphasis is on the illegal business and the rules are strictly implemented. These changes can lead to a major change in Maharashtra’s liquor policy.
