Airtel Understand Cable
Airtel has surprised by laying a 21,700 km long cable under the sea. The second major telecom company of the country has connected two big countries to India through this under -C Internet cable. This under Sea cable company has laid from Chennai to Singapore and Marse city of France. Earlier last year, on 30 December 2024, the company has also worked to connect South Asia to the Middle East and Western Europe by laying an under Sea cable from Mumbai. This cable will be operational by next year.

The Department of Telecommunications (DOT) has shared this information with its official X handle. The Department of Telecommunications said in its post that this under -C Internet cable will connect India with Singapore and France via Egypt. Through this under Sea cable, internet connectivity will be available at a speed of 220 triangles per second (TBPS). This will work to increase India’s global capacity.
Airtel has worked to connect two major metros of the country Mumbai and Chennai to Western Europe, Middle East and South Asia through this under -C cable. The company has set up its data center in both these metros, which Airtel’s data center department manages NXTRA.
Connectivity in all five continents
Airtel has done the work of connecting the world’s five continents with this under Sea cable. The company has so far laid a total of 34 under Sea cables worldwide. Airtel has connected Africa, South Asia-Dopan, Europe, Middle East and America via Under Sea cable. Apart from India, the company is also a large telecom operator in Sri Lanka and African countries.
Airtel Business director and CEO Sharat Sinha said, ‘We are happy to further strengthen our global connectivity by launching one of the largest cable systems in our facilities. It complements our current network strength of 400,000 hyperscale RKMS in 50 countries.
