Mumbai International Airport Traveling air from 16 May will become expensive. In fact, the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has approved the increase in UDF rates from May 16, 2025 to March 31, 2029. After this, up to Rs 695 will have to be paid as user development fees (UDF). Earlier, by August 2024 from Mumbai Airport, a departure fee on domestic passengers was Rs 120 and Rs 187 for international passengers. In this way, the burden of huge increase in UDF will be on air travelers. They have to pay more money for tickets.
Both domestic and international fees increased
The authority said in a statement issued on Thursday that this step has been taken to ensure the same allocation of aeronautical fee among all the concerned stakeholders. UDF will be departed Rs 175 per departure for domestic passengers flying from the airport. At the same time, this UDF has been fixed at Rs 75 per passenger for passengers landing at the airport. According to the statement, UDF has been set separately for international flights for ‘economy’ and ‘business’ category travelers. UDF has been paid Rs 615 per passenger for passengers of ‘economy’ category for international travel and Rs 695 per passenger for ‘business’ category.’
Indian airports have rights
Earlier, UDF was Rs 304 and Rs 260 respectively for international flights to take international flights from here and ‘Economy’ category travelers respectively. The Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) has the right to determine all the fees for major airports of the country. ‘Landing’ and parking charges for aviation companies have also been reduced. Keeping in mind the competitive airport fees at similar airports, they are placed at a reasonable level. The regulator said that this rate amendment ensures that aviation operations do not become unfairly cumbersome and maintaining operational efficiency.
