October 1, that is, the fees for updating Aadhaar card have increased from tomorrow, which can become a matter of concern for the general public. UIDAI has increased the fee for the first time after five years, under which the fee for demographic updates like name, address, mobile number, date of birth has been increased from Rs 50 to Rs 75, while biometric updates (eg fingerprint or photo) fee have been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 125. This change will remain in force until 30 September 2028, and after that the fees may increase further from October 2028.
Some relief for children is also provided when biometric updates for children between 5 to 7 years and 15 to 17 years of age are still free, while for children between 7 to 15 years, this service was free from 30 September 2026. The fee for service to make Aadhaar at home has been fixed at Rs 700, which has not changed in it. UIDAI says that this improvement has been done to improve the quality of the service and to meet the cost of operating digital service centers and other update centers.
Increased new fees may increase economic pressure, especially on people in rural and small cities, where digital services can still be limited and expensive. UIDAI has urged consumers to update their Aadhaar details on time so that they do not face any kind of trouble in future. At the same time, those who have not updated Aadhaar in the last ten years, they will have to submit documents according to the new fee.
This change is considered to be an essential step for expansion and better management of the digital identity system in India, so that the services provided by UIDAI can operate smoothly and the Aadhaar card holders can avail better services. However, this increased fees can also become a new economic challenge for the common people, so it is necessary to update time according to their needs and avoid any unexpected expenses.
