According to UIDAI, biometric verification is necessary to update the mobile number. Therefore this process is not available online. You have to apply by visiting Aadhaar Seva Kendra. For this, an appointment can be booked in advance from the UIDAI website, which further intensifies the process.
What is the fee of mobile number update?
A fee of ₹ 50 is fixed for updating the mobile number in Aadhaar. If this is being done with other details such as names, date of birth or biometric update, no additional fees are charged.
How long does Aadhaar update take?
According to UIDAI, it may take 2 to 4 weeks to update the mobile number. The applicant will be given an update request number (URN), through which they can track the status.
What can be updated in Aadhaar?
Many types of services can be availed by booking an appointment from UIDAI portal. This includes new Aadhaar registration. Apart from this, information like name, address, mobile number, email, date of birth and gender can also be updated. Step 1: Go to the UIDAI website and go to ‘Aadhaar Services’.
Step 2: Click on ‘Verify Email/Mobile Number’.
Step 3: Enter the Aadhaar number and mobile number, fill the captcha.
Step 4: Click on submit. It will tell whether your number/email is in Aadhaar record or not.
