Forgotten omission waived OTT release banned
Rajkummar Rao and Vamika Gabbi starrer ‘Bhool Lack Maaf’ is now stuck in great trouble. Recently, the makers of the film had announced that the film will no longer be released in theaters, citing the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, but will be directly released on OTT. Dinesh Vijan’s production house made this announcement just a day before the release of the film. But, now this film will not be released on OTT either. The Bombay High Court has banned the OTT release of this movie of production house Madock Films. What is the whole matter, let’s tell you.
Bombay High Court action on OTT release of mistake forgiven
In fact, PVR Iinox had proclaimed a 60 crore case against Dinesh Vijan’s production house after the forgotten makers announced its OTT release. Taking action on, the Bombay High Court has stopped the OTT release of the film. The filmmakers announced that the film will no longer be released in theaters, but will knock directly on Prime Video on 16 May. But, now it seems that the audience will not be able to enjoy this romantic-comedy even on OTT.
PVR Iinox said this in court
According to a senior advocate from PVR Iinox in the court, Dinesh Vijan’s Madock Films signed an agreement with PVR INOX on 6 May. According to this agreement, the film ‘Bhool Luma Luma Maa’ was to be released in theaters on 9 May. However, at the last moment Madock Films changed their decision. On May 8, Madock Films suddenly sent an email that the film will now be released directly on OTT on 16 May.
Advance booking of thousands of tickets
PVR further said that he has invested a lot in the promotion of this film. He had reserved screen for the mistake forgiveness and has also made advance booking of thousands of tickets from across the country. It was written in the agreement that the film cannot be released on OTT for eight weeks after the theater release. However, Madock Films, citing security reasons, said that it would be safe and beneficial to release the film on OTT instead of theaters in view of the current conditions.
Madock Films violated
After hearing the arguments of both sides, the court admitted that Madock Films had violated the agreement. Thinking that it is not beneficial to release the film in theater, it is not permissible to break the agreement. The court said in its judgment that the film cannot be released on any platform, especially OTT, until the holdback period of the mistake is forgiven. The film will continue to stop until the next hearing is on the matter. The next hearing on the case will be held on 16 June 2025, that is, the film will not be released on OTT till then.
