There are continuous demonstrations in Israel for the release of hostages.
A deal regarding ceasefire between Israel and Hamas may be completed soon. For this, talks are being held in Qatar’s capital Doha with the help of Egypt, Qatar and America. Israeli officials said on Monday that 33 hostages would be released in the first phase of the deal.
Hamas has 94 Israeli hostages, out of which about 34 have died. On October 7, 2023, Hamas took 251 Israeli citizens hostage. The remaining hostages have been rescued first.
The final talks for the deal are to be held today i.e. Tuesday, January 14. As soon as this agreement is signed, it will be implemented immediately. The first phase of ceasefire will be on 42 days. The remaining hostages will be released 15 days after the release of 33 hostages. During this period, talks will also be held on permanently implementing the ceasefire.
The footage is of the Hamas attack on the Nova Festival on October 7. There was a stampede as soon as Hamas fighters arrived.
Palestinian citizens will return to North Gaza
According to CNN report, under the ceasefire deal, Israel will allow Palestinian citizens displaced from North Gaza to return. However, for security reasons the presence of Israeli soldiers may remain in this area.
A buffer zone will be created between Gaza and Israel. Both Israel and Hamas have different demands regarding the buffer zone. Israel is demanding a buffer zone of 2 km from the border, while Hamas wants a buffer zone of 300 to 500 meters as before October 2023.
On the other hand, Israel has refused to return the dead body of Hamas Chief Yahya Sinwar under the deal.
Yahya Sinwar was killed by Israeli soldiers in an encounter on October 17 last year.
Netanyahu will meet the families of hostages
Israeli PM Netanyahu will meet the families of hostages held in Hamas captivity today. Apart from this, he is going to meet Ben Gvir who is opposing this ceasefire deal. The representative of newly elected US President Donald Trump has also been included in the ceasefire deal.
According to the US Foreign Minister, it will be Trump’s responsibility to take the ceasefire forward, hence his representative has also been included.
On the other hand, Donald Trump while giving a statement on the deal said that, we are very close to completing the deal. If they (Hamas) do not agree to this, then there will be more problems for them.
Donald Trump has given an ultimatum to Hamas to cease fire by January 20 before his swearing-in.
Hamas released video of Israeli female soldier
Amidst the ongoing ceasefire deal in Qatar, Hamas released the video of 19-year-old Israeli female soldier Liri Elbag on January 4. Liri was taken hostage by Hamas on 7 October 2023. In this video, Liri has blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for not freeing the Israeli hostages from Hamas captivity.
Liri Elbag was kidnapped along with 6 female soldiers from Nahal Oz Army Base. Of these, 5 women soldiers are still in captivity of Hamas.
Liri said- Netanyahu government has forgotten me
According to the Times of Israel, Elbagh said-
I am just 19 years old. My whole life has stopped. We have been held hostage for more than 450 days. The Netanyahu government has forgotten me and the other hostages. I think that the Israeli people captured by Hamas are not a priority for the government or the army.
Elbagh further said that the release of the detainees depends on the withdrawal of Israeli forces. However, no information has been revealed about when this video was recorded. At the same time, for Liri Elbagh, his family also released a video in which they appealed to the leaders of the world including Israel to come forward to free the Israeli prisoners.

Israel declared war after Hamas attack
