US President Joe Biden commuted the death sentences of 37 people to life imprisonment just days before the end of his term. The White House issued a statement regarding this on Monday. According to Fox News, these 37 people include law enforcement officers, teenagers and some other prisoners.
White House said- President Biden supports death penalty only for terrorism and mass murder related to hatred.

However, now he cannot go back from this decision. The new government cannot be given permission to start the process of hanging again against these people.
Biden has pardoned the sentences of 65 people so far
According to the Justice Department, till December 13, during his tenure as President, Joe Biden has pardoned the sentences of 65 people and reduced the sentences of 1,634 prisoners. Many people from civil society have praised Biden for this decision and called him courageous.
