The reason for the fire in the hotel has not been known yet.
Ten people have been killed and 32 injured in a fire at a hotel in a ski resort in Bolu state in northwestern Turkey. According to news agency Reuters, a fire broke out in the Kartalkaya resort of Bolu causing a stampede. Due to panic, two people jumped from the building, resulting in their death.
According to officials, it took place at the hotel around 3:30 am local time. It engulfed the 11-storey building. As soon as the accident was known, a team of fire fighters and rescue workers immediately reached the spot.
Stampede broke out after the fire
Bolu Governor Abdulaziz Aydin said that 234 guests were staying in this hotel. There was a stampede due to the fire. Some people hurriedly tried to get down from the window through the sheet. The cause of the fire has not been known yet. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
According to the Governor’s Office, 30 fire engines and 28 ambulances were sent to the spot. Authorities have also deployed 267 emergency workers to control the fire. According to the report, Turkey’s Tourism and Health Minister has left for the accident site.
