Security forces have achieved great success in the operation against Naxalites. More than 14 Naxalites have been reported killed in an encounter on the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border. According to Chhattisgarh Police, this encounter took place in Gariaband area on Chhattisgarh-Odisha border. Police have said that the encounter with Naxalites is still going on.
Operation continues continuously
The operation of security forces to eliminate Naxalites on the Chhattisgarh-Odisha border has been going on for more than 24 hours. Earlier on Monday, there was an encounter in which female Naxalites were killed. At the same time, a soldier of CRPF’s Cobra battalion was injured. After this, encounters took place late on Monday night and Tuesday morning, in which more than 14 Naxalites were reported killed.
Who is involved in the campaign?
Security forces had received information about the presence of a large number of Naxalites or Maoists in the Kularighat Reserve Forest of Chhattisgarh. This area is located about five kilometers away from the border of Nuapada district of Odisha. After this, on the night of 19 January, the security forces started an operation against the Naxalites. According to the information, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Chhattisgarh, CRPF and SOG from Odisha is involved in this ongoing operation against Naxalites.
Can the number increase further?
During the operation on Monday, a huge cache of arms, ammunition and a ‘self-loading’ rifle were recovered from the encounter site and a landmine was detected. He told that the number of killed Maoists may increase. Pulil IG Amresh Mishra of Raipur area has said that many top Naxalites are likely to be killed in this encounter. (input language)
