Share Market Today: Indian stock markets made a spectacular comeback today on January 20. BSE Sensex rose by 454 points. Whereas Nifty increased to near 23,350. Due to this, the wealth of stock market investors increased by about Rs 3 lakh crore today. Newly elected US President Donald Trump indicated a soft stance on tariffs just before his inauguration. Due to this, global markets felt relieved and the morale of investors got strengthened. There was greenery in Broader Market also. BSE midcap and smallcap indices jumped up to 0.82 per cent. The most movement was seen in banking, telecom, utility and power stocks.
At the end of trading, BSE Sensex closed at 77,073.44, up 454.11 points or 0.59 per cent. Whereas NSE’s 50-share index, Nifty, closed at 23,344.75 with a rise of 141.55 points or 0.61 per cent.
Investors earned ₹2.86 lakh crore
The total market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 431.58 lakh crore today on January 20, which was Rs 428.72 lakh crore on its previous trading day i.e. Friday, January 17. In this way, the market cap of companies listed in BSE has increased by about Rs 2.86 lakh crore today. Or in other words, the wealth of investors has increased by about Rs 2.86 lakh crore.
These 5 Sensex stocks had the highest rise
Today only 17 out of 30 shares of BSE Sensex closed in the green i.e. with gains. In this, shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank had the highest rise of 9.15 percent. After this, shares of Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserve, NTPC and State Bank of India (SBI) closed with gains ranging from 1.96 percent to 3.58 percent.
These 5 Sensex stocks fell the most
Whereas the remaining 13 Sensex stocks closed with losses today. In this too, Zomato shares were the top loser with a fall of 3.14 percent. Whereas Adani Ports, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Maruti Suzuki saw a decline of 0.80 per cent to 1.23 per cent.

There was a rise in 2,503 shares
The number of shares closing with gains on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) today was high. A total of 4,228 shares were traded on the exchange today. Out of these, 2,503 shares closed with gains. A decline was seen in 1,557 shares. While 168 shares closed flat without any fluctuations. Apart from this, 115 shares touched their new 52-week high during trading today. Whereas 75 shares touched their new 52-week low.
