The Indian cricket team is going to play T20 and ODI series against England. After this the Champions Trophy will be organized. Meanwhile, the domestic cricket season continues in India. In such a situation, a star player of Team India is going to play Ranji Trophy. This player is none other than Ravindra Jadeja. Ravindra Jadeja has made a comeback in domestic cricket. The Indian all-rounder joined the Saurashtra squad on Sunday, indicating that he could play for his state in the upcoming Ranji Trophy match. Saurashtra will face Delhi on January 23 at Ground C near Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

Jadeja can play matches

Although Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) has not officially confirmed whether Jadeja will play or not, but reports suggest that his chances of playing are quite high. Jadeja last played a Ranji Trophy match in January 2023, when he was captaining Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu. The move is in accordance with the guidelines of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, which has made it mandatory for all international players to participate in domestic cricket unless there is a special reason or the player is injured.

Under the same guidelines, many other international players are also participating in domestic cricket. Rohit Sharma on Saturday announced that he will play in Mumbai’s upcoming match against Jammu and Kashmir. Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal have also confirmed their availability. Apart from this, KL Rahul can play in Karnataka’s last league match against Haryana in Bengaluru from January 30.

What did Ajit Agarkar say?

BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar defended the decision and said that it is not a mandatory rule, but a normal procedure. He said that if players are available and fit, it is a normal thing for them to play in domestic cricket. He also clarified that the move may be difficult for the players, especially if they are playing all three formats, but it is a matter of time and the players who are available are expected to play.
