After scoring 230 runs in the first innings, Pakistan team collapsed for just 157 runs in the second innings. In this way, West Indies has got a target of 251 runs to win. In the first innings for Pakistan, Saud Shakeel scored 84 runs and Mohammad Rizwan scored 71 runs. For West Indies, Jaden Seales and Jomel Warrican took 3 wickets each. In response to Pakistan’s first innings score, West Indies’ first innings collapsed for just 137 runs. For Pakistan, Noman Ali took 5 wickets and Sajid Khan took 4 wickets. A total of 19 wickets fell on the second day of this match, which is the record for the highest number of wickets falling in a single day of a Test cricket match in Pakistan.
Jomel Warrican created new history
After disposing of West Indies cheaply in the first innings, Pakistan was expected to perform better in the second innings but West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican made the Pakistani bowlers dance with his spin in such a way that a new record was created in the history of Pakistan’s Test cricket. Pakistan had lost 3 wickets for 106 runs but then Jomel Warrican worked such magic that the entire team was reduced to 157 runs.
Third best performance by a foreign bowler in Pakistan
Jomel Warrican dismissed 7 Pakistani batsmen and became the first West Indies spinner to take 5 wickets in Test cricket on Pakistani soil. Not only this, Warrican also became the best performing foreign spinner in Test cricket at home for Pakistan. He took 7 wickets for 32 runs in 18 overs and gave the third best bowling performance as a foreign bowler in Test cricket in Pakistan. The record of best bowling against Pakistan at home is held by Sri Lanka’s Ravi Ratnayake. Ravi Ratnayake took 8 wickets for 83 runs in a Test on Pakistan soil in 1985. Whereas, Kapil Dev had taken 8 wickets for 85 runs in 1983.
