Pakistan cricket remains in the news for some reason or the other. Recently the draft of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 was organized. Through this draft, teams included many big players in their squads. However, there were some players who were not selected in the draft. One such player, angry at not being selected in the draft, suddenly announced his retirement. This Pakistani player took retirement from PSL at the age of just 22.
Actually, Pakistan fast bowler Ihsanullah said goodbye to PSL after being ignored in PSL 10 draft. 22 year old Ihsanullah is known for his fast bowling. He bowls at a speed of 150+ kmph. Despite this, he did not get a chance in the PSL draft. After this he surprised everyone by taking retirement.
Surprised by sudden announcement of retirement
During a conversation with a news, Ihsanullah talked about never playing in PSL. He said that this decision has not been taken emotionally. He himself has seen that the world is mean. Now he does not want to play franchise cricket. After today it’s all over. He boycotts and retires from PSL. Will never play in PSL again.
Not even 24 hours had passed since Ihsanullah announced his retirement when he retracted his words and withdrew his retirement. Ihsanullah retracted his statement and said that he had taken this decision due to emotions and he retracts his statement. He said that he has no plans to retire, he had taken this decision yesterday out of emotion.
For this reason a big step was taken
He further said that when I was not selected in the PSL draft, friends and family also put this in my mind and I got angry and announced my retirement. Ihsanullah also vowed to work hard and make a comeback in domestic cricket to ensure that he finds takers next time and also apologized to Multan Sultans for his statement.
Ihsanullah came into limelight during PSL 8. That season, he took 22 wickets for Multan Sultans at an economy rate of 7.59. After this he was selected in Pakistan’s T20I team. He made his international debut against Afghanistan in March 2023 and then also took part in the series against New Zealand. Ihsanullah also received his first ODI cap during the same series.
