Australia cricket team and Indian cricket team
Champions Trophy 2025: The countdown for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has started. The tournament is going to start next month i.e. from 19th February. A total of 8 teams will participate in this ICC tournament, out of which 5 teams have announced their squads so far. Australia became the 5th team to announce its squad. India, South Africa and Pakistan are the only teams whose squads have not been revealed yet. According to ICC rules, all eight nations participating in the Champions Trophy have to announce their initial 15-man squad five weeks before the start of the tournament, but teams will be allowed to make changes up to a week before the first match. Any changes to the team after that will require ICC approval.
Team India will have to be careful
Australia has announced a 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy. The command of the team has once again been given to Pat Cummins. It was under the captaincy of Cummins that Australia won the ICC World Cup title played on Indian soil in the year 2023. In the final of that World Cup, the Australian team became the world champion by defeating the host team India. Since then, almost 1 year and 2 months have passed and there has not been much change in the Australian team. In such a situation, Team India will have to be careful. Even though Team India and Australia are not in the same group of the Champions Trophy, there are good chances of both the teams meeting in the semi-finals or final. Therefore, Team India will have to be careful because it will face almost the same team which was in the ICC World Cup 2023.
12 out of 15 players will play in WC 2023
The team that Australia has selected for the Champions Trophy 2025 is almost the same team as the World Cup 2023. There have been only 3 changes in Australia’s team since the World Cup. David Warner played in the World Cup 2023 but now he has taken retirement. In his place, Matthew Short has been included in the Australian team for the ICC tournament for the first time. At the same time, Cameron Green is not in the team due to injury. In his place, Aaron Hardy has been given a chance in the team for the ICC event for the first time. Sean Abbott played in the 2023 World Cup but this time he has been dropped from the team. Fast bowler Nathan Ellis will now be seen playing in place of Abbott. This means that out of 15 players of World Cup 2023, 12 players will be seen playing in the Champions Trophy. Only 3 players will be new.
Australia squad for Champions Trophy 2025: Pat Cummins (captain), Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa.
