Under the new rules coming into effect from January 1, 2025, there has been a slight change in the method of airport lounge access for RuPay and BOBCARD credit card holders. What changed in RuPay card?

National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has implemented tier-based new standards for RuPay lounge access from January 1, 2025. This exclusive lounge of RuPay is located at Terminal 3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi. Access to this exclusive lounge will be available only to select credit card holders, whose eligibility will be based on their spending patterns.

Changes in BOBCARD card

According to BOBCARD’s website, the change in rules for access to domestic airport lounges has been implemented from January 1, 2025. Access to domestic airport lounges will be subject to minimum eligible spend in the previous calendar quarter. In case of newly issued cards, the minimum spend criteria for the calendar quarter of card issue for lounge usage is waived. This discount is applicable only in case of new cards issued during the calendar quarter. Does not apply to cards upgrading from one card to another during a calendar quarter.

Holders of credit cards like Eterna, ICAI Exclusive, ICMAI One, Tiara, ICSI Diamond and Varun Premium will be required to spend a minimum of Rs 40,000 in the previous calendar quarter. Whereas for other mid-range credit cards like Varun Plus, The Sentinel, Rakshamah, Yodha, Corporate, HPCL and Premier, the limit for free entry to airport lounges has been set at Rs 20,000. BOBCARD users can use the official BOBCARD portal or mobile app to monitor their quarterly expenses.
