Saim Ayub Injury: Pakistan has got the hosting of Champions Trophy 2025. But it will be played on hybrid model. The Indian team will play all its matches in UAE. Here a great match will be played between India and Pakistan in the Champions Trophy 2025 on 23 February. But even before the Champions Trophy, concerns have increased regarding the injury of Pakistan’s Sam Ayub. Due to injury, Ayub has not been selected even in the Test series against West Indies. Now a big update about his injury has come out.
Sam Ayub got checkup done in London
Sam Ayub has got his ankle injury checked by an orthopedic surgeon in London but it will be a week before we know whether he will be able to play the Champions Trophy next month or not. He has been seen by two famous ortho surgeons of London, Dr. David Redfern and Dr. Lucky Jeyaseelan. A source close to Ayub said that the PCB wants him to be fit by the match against India in Dubai on February 23. Even if the doctors say that he will not be fit till Pakistan’s first match against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy on February 19 but will be fit till the match against India, then the selectors and the PCB are ready to take the risk. The PCB will receive the experts’ report by next week but the initial checkup has ruled out the need for any surgery.
Got injured against South Africa
Sam Ayub twisted his ankle while fielding in the second Test match against South Africa, due to which he started groaning in pain on the field itself. Then Ayub could not even stand and was taken out of the ground with the help of a stretcher. He could not bat in the match due to ankle problem. The Pakistani team was defeated by 10 wickets in the second test match and had to lose the series 0-2. Ayub had performed well in limited overs against Africa. For this reason, PCB wants him to be ready to play in the Champions Trophy.
Played all three formats against Pakistan
Sam Ayub has so far played cricket in all three formats for the Pakistani team. He made his Test debut in the year 2024 and after this he has scored 364 runs in 8 Tests, 515 runs in 9 ODIs and 498 runs in 27 T20 Internationals for Pakistan. He has three centuries registered in his name in ODI cricket.
