Mahakumbh is starting from 13th January and will continue till 26th February. The Meteorological Department has made special preparations to see how the weather will be in Prayagraj during Mahakumbh so that crores of devotees coming here can get better security and facilities. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has started weather services equipped with state-of-the-art technology, through which people will now be able to get the weather conditions of Maha Kumbh every 15 minutes. The Meteorological Department has set up five weather stations in Kumbh Nagar, which will not only provide accurate weather information but will also prove helpful in preventing possible natural disasters.
IMD has informed that five Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) have been established in Prayagraj, which will provide temperature, wind, rainfall and other important weather data. The data received from these stations will be fed to 10 other automatic weather stations and 49 automatic rain gauge stations established by the Uttar Pradesh government. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has also started special facilities for the pilgrims.

IMD has also launched a webpage (https://mausam.imd.gov.in/mahakumbh) where devotees can check the weather condition and location-specific forecast at all times. A large digital display board has been installed in the Sangam area, which will show the current weather conditions and forecast for the next few hours.
IMD Chief Dr. Manish R Ranalter said that these weather related services will make the travel of lakhs of devotees during Mahakumbh safe and convenient. Getting weather updates every 15 minutes will help everyone in taking right decisions. This will go a long way in helping the organizing committee better manage and deal with emergencies and prevent accidents caused by suddenly changing weather.
Where have the stations been installed?
Weather stations have been made in Delhi Public School of Prayagraj, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences, Allahabad University, GB Pant Social Science Institute, Sadar Tehsil.
