spicejet (SpiceJet) is going to bring 10 of the grounded i.e. non-flying aircraft back into service by mid-April 2025. The airline said in a statement on January 10 that these aircraft will include 4 Boeing 737 Max aircraft and will increase SpiceJet’s fleet. Currently there are 28 aircraft in the company’s fleet. Earlier, SpiceJet has added 10 aircraft to its fleet from October 2024.
The first aircraft added included 3 previously discontinued aircraft. Also, 7 aircraft were added to the fleet on lease. “In the last 3 months, over 60 new flights have been added as part of SpiceJet’s network expansion strategy. This has further enhanced the connectivity and service options for SpiceJet’s passengers,” the airline said.

Agreement has been reached for the restoration of Max Fleet
SpiceJet had signed an agreement with US-based engine MRO ‘StandardAero Inc’ for the reinstatement of its grounded MAX fleet in December 2024. The airline is on the path to recovery. It is settling long-standing dues and disputes with many of its lessees.

SpiceJet shares are down nearly 6 per cent on BSE on January 10. During the day, the stock fell by almost 7 percent from the previous closing price to a low of Rs 49. At the end of trading the share settled at Rs 49.66. The market cap of the company is Rs 6300 crore. The stock has weakened 24 percent in a year.
