Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25: Vijay Hazare Trophy is moving towards the final stage. All 8 teams of quarter finals have been decided. The teams of defending champions Haryana, Vidarbha, Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Baroda have made it to the quarter-finals. In the quarter-final round, 4 matches will be played between these 8 teams and the winning teams will get tickets for the semi-finals.
Rajasthan defeated Tamil Nadu
Earlier, thanks to the brilliant century of opener Abhijeet Tomar, Rajasthan entered the quarterfinals by winning over Tamil Nadu for the first time in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy in the match played in Vadodara on 9 January. Apart from scoring 111 runs in 125 balls at Kotambi Stadium, Tomar also made a partnership of 160 runs for the second wicket with captain Mahipal Lomror (60 runs). Despite this, Rajasthan team was reduced to 267 runs in 47.3 overs. Tamil Nadu and India’s mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty troubled the players of the rival team and took 5 wickets, but his performance alone proved to be insufficient for the team to win.
Haryana defeated Bengal
At the Motibagh cricket ground, Haryana defeated Bengal by 72 runs due to the all-round performance of Parth Vats (62 runs) and Nishant Sandhu (64 runs). After scoring half-centuries, both of them also took two wickets each. Haryana will face Gujarat in the quarterfinals to be held on Saturday. Two other quarterfinals will be played between Karnataka and Baroda and Maharashtra and Punjab. All quarter-final matches will be held at Kotambi Stadium and Moti Bagh Stadium in Vadodara.
