FASTag Annual Toll Pass is gaining tremendous popularity in the country. Launched on August 15, 2025, this pass has been purchased by more than 25 lakh people in just two months. During this period, about 5.67 crore transactions were also recorded at more than 1,150 toll plazas on national highways and national expressways. This pass is for non-commercial vehicles, in which a one-time payment of ₹ 3,000 provides the facility for the entire year or till 200 toll crossings.
Annual pass means that passengers do not need to pay toll again and again. This pass gets linked to your existing Fastag within two hours of purchase and gets activated immediately. After this you can easily pass through the toll plaza. The central government has also made changes in the Fastag rules from November 15. Under this, vehicles crossing the toll without valid Fastag will now pay double the toll, but vehicle owners paying through UPI will have to pay only 1.25 times the toll.
FASTag is based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which calculates toll by reading the tag placed on the windshield of the vehicle at toll plazas. Due to this, there is no need to stop the vehicle at the toll and passengers do not get disturbed. With the advent of the annual pass, time has been saved in highway journeys and the problem of traffic jams at toll plazas has also reduced.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has described the huge demand for this pass as a reflection of the government’s commitment to provide convenient and safe travel. Due to freedom from frequent toll payments, less hassle and economic savings, this pass is being liked a lot among the highway users. After the success so far, Fastag Annual Pass is expected to reach more vehicles in the coming time.
