School Holidays in Diwali: Festivals have started in the country. As the festivals are approaching, holidays have been announced in schools in many states of the country. This year, students and teachers of Karnataka, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are getting holidays for different reasons. States have already announced holidays due to administrative survey, Diwali and Chhath Puja.

Karnataka – long leave for survey

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that schools in the state will remain closed from October 8 to October 18, 2025. This decision has been taken to complete the ongoing social and educational survey in the state, commonly called caste survey. This holiday has been extended due to delay in survey in many districts. According to official data, 97% survey has been completed in Koppal district, while 63% and 60% work is still pending in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. Teachers whose duty is in mid-term exams have been exempted from the survey.

Rajasthan – 12 days holiday for Diwali

Rajasthan Education Department has declared Diwali holiday in schools from 13 October to 24 October 2025. This holiday, starting from today, will be for a total of 12 days, due to which students and teachers will get full opportunity to celebrate the festival.

Uttar Pradesh – Short Diwali holiday

Diwali holidays will start a little late in Uttar Pradesh. Schools will remain closed here from October 20 to October 23. By adding the weekend i.e. 18th and 19th October, students will get a total of 6 days leave. So that, they can celebrate the festival of Diwali with their family.

Bihar – Diwali and Chhath Puja break

In Bihar too, school holidays will start from October 20, which have been extended for preparations for Diwali as well as Chhath Puja. Holidays are being announced around Diwali in other states also.
