Indigo airline is about to start direct international flight from Delhi-Guangzhou. Amidst the resumption of diplomatic contacts between India and China, Indigo Airlines has announced that it will start direct flights between Delhi and Guangzhou, China from 10 November 2025. Apart from this, Indigo will run flights between Delhi-Hanoi Vietnam from 20 December 2025.
Earlier, Indigo had announced plans to start daily flights between Kolkata and Guangzhou from October 26, 2025. Now Delhi has also been made the second hub, which will make it easier to reach two important and rapidly growing cities of Asia.
IndiGo said that they had operated flights between India and China before the COVID-19 pandemic and still have the necessary infrastructure and local partners. This means that new flights can be launched faster and easier.
It is worth noting that after 2020, there were no direct flights between India and China, while China still remains India’s largest trading partner. This move comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to China. This was Modi’s first visit to China in seven years, in which he participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit. During this, Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping said that India and China are development partners. China is not a competition and the two countries discussed strengthening trade relations.
The Prime Minister committed to improving India’s bilateral ties, but also expressed concern over the trade deficit, which has now reached nearly $99.2 billion. He also reiterated the need to maintain peace and stability along the India-China disputed border, where there was prolonged military tension following the confrontation in 2020.
