The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has given a big gift to poor families on the occasion of Diwali this time. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, an LPG cylinder refill has been announced to about 1.85 crore beneficiaries of the state for free. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Friday, which was approved by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself. According to the government, the goal of this scheme is to remove the worry of the kitchen of the poor and needy families at the time of the festival, so that Diwali will be bright in their house.

Under the scheme, eligible women will get a free cylinder between October to December 2025 on the occasion of Diwali. Apart from this, another free refill will be given from January to March 2026 at the time of Holi. A total of Rs 1385.34 crore will be spent on the scheme throughout the financial year, so that every eligible family can get its benefit.

It is worth noting that the benefit of this scheme will be available only to those women who have registered under the Ujjwala scheme and whose name is recorded in the list of BPL family. The special thing is that to avail the benefit of free cylinder, all the necessary documents should be completed and Aadhaar Certification (KYC). The government has fixed the last date for Aadhaar certification for the beneficiaries 31 December 2025. If this process is not completed by the scheduled time, then the opportunity of free cylinder can be missed.

The state government claims that this decision will give great relief to millions of poor families on the holy festival of Deepawali and women will be stronger towards self -sufficiency. Due to the Ujjwala scheme, food and drink arrangements in the families of the state will not only be easy, but clean fuel will also improve their health and social status.
