During this festival season, the Railway Board has given a good news for passengers. For Diwali and other upcoming festivals, a 20 percent discount will be given on returns ticket booking. This step is especially beneficial for those who use the train to return home and come back. This plan has been made in view of the huge crowd and trouble of the tickets during festivals, so that passengers can book tickets comfortably and cheaply. The benefit of this exemption will be available only when the passengers will book both tickets simultaneously and all the ticket information will be the same.
This will not only provide financial help to the passengers, but will also get relief from the difficulties in the crowd and ticket booking. The scheme will remain in force for travel between 13 October to 1 December 2025.
What to do to get 20% discount?
According to the Railway Board, to take advantage of this exemption, passengers will have to book a round trip i.e. both tickets simultaneously. It is necessary to have the same knowledge of the passenger in both tickets. Apart from this, the train coming and going should be the same class and the station pair should also be the same. Note that these discounts will not apply to trains with Flexi Fair, but apart from this, all categories and especially on demand trains are included in this discount.
How long will this facility remain in force?
The Railway Board has made it clear that this exemption is being given only for limited time. For those traveling during the upcoming festivals, tickets will have to be booked between October 13 to October 26, 2025, between 17 November to 1 December 2025.
Necessary conditions for exemption
Some terms and conditions have also been determined in this scheme which is necessary to keep in mind:
The refund will not be available for canceling the tickets booked during the scheme.
There will also be no improvement or change in tickets.
While booking a return ticket, no additional discounts, coupons, vouchers, passes or PTOs will not be acceptable.
Both tickets should be booked through the same means, whether it is online or from the counter.
No additional charge will be charged at the time of the PNR chart being built.
