Martin Guptill Retirement: New Zealand’s star cricketer Martin Guptill has announced his retirement from international cricket. In his 14-year long career, he led the Kiwi team to victory in many matches and broke many records with his powerful batting. He is at third place in terms of scoring most runs in ODI cricket for New Zealand. He may be retiring from international cricket, but will continue to play franchise cricket.

Martin Guptill said on his retirement that it was always my dream to play for New Zealand as a young child and I feel lucky and proud to have played 367 matches for my country. I will always cherish the memories I made with the team. I would like to say a huge thank you to my teammates and coaching staff, especially Mark O’Donnell, who has coached me from Under 19 level and has been a constant support throughout my career.

Scored 23 centuries for New Zealand in all three formats
Martin Guptill made his ODI debut for New Zealand in 2009 and scored a century on his debut. In his first match itself, he had shown that he is a long-haul player. He made his debut in Test and T20I in the year 2009 itself. He soon made his permanent place in the Kiwi team with his strong batting. After this he scored a double century in the ODI World Cup 2015. He has 2586 runs in 47 Test matches, 7346 runs in 198 ODI matches and 3531 runs in 122 T20 International matches in his name. A total of 23 centuries are recorded in his name in all three formats.
