PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: In the summer season, you are also getting upset by seeing your electricity bill? Electricity bill comes the highest due to fans, coolers, AC running in summer. If you too are getting upset by seeing your bill, then this government scheme can help you. The PM Surya of the Central Government can apply in the free power scheme. The government approved the scheme on 29 February 2024. Under the scheme, people get 300 units of electricity free every month. Let’s know what is the specialty of the scheme.
What is PM Sun Home Free Power Plan?
Under this initiative of the government, solar panels will be installed on the roof of the house. Subsidies will be available from both the central and state governments on installing solar panels. Along with savings in home power consumption, electricity bills will also decrease. Also, electricity up to 300 units will be available free every month. Under this scheme, the government will spend Rs 75,021 crore and it will be implemented across the country by 2026-27. The government has currently targeted to reach 1 crore houses by 2027.
How will this scheme work?
Under this scheme, the government gives 60% subsidy on the system up to 2KW. 40% subsidy is available on additional capacity for systems from 2KW to 3KW. Subsidies are given on a maximum unit up to 3KW.
Total subsidy on 1KW system Rs 30,000.
60,000 rupees on 2KW system
There is a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 at 3kw or more. It provides extra help from the state government.
Who can apply under the scheme
The applicant should be an Indian citizen to apply for PM Surya Ghar Yojana. The roof of the house should be space to install solar panels. The house should have valid electricity connection. The family has not taken any solar subsidy before. The annual income of the family should be less than Rs 1.5 lakh.
Applying process
First go to the national portal. Choose your kingdom and discom. Register on the portal. See information like system size, cost, subsidy and vendor rating. Choose a register seller and get solar unit installed.
The scheme is a major step towards promoting solar rooftop capacity, making homes self -sufficient and giving energy security to every citizen. The government is running this scheme on behalf of the National Program Implementation Agency (NPIA) and at the state level State Implementation Agency (SIAS). Discom has been instructed to connect net metering, inspection, vendor management and building with solar.
