China has expressed displeasure over Prime Minister Narendra Modi wishing the Dalai Lama a happy birthday. Beijing said that India should respect China’s sensitivity in matters related to Tibet.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning said that the Dalai Lama is involved in anti -China activities and is aimed at separating Tibet from China. He appealed to India to vigilance on issues related to Tibet and follow the promises made to China, so that the relationship does not affect.

90 -year -old Dalai Lama, Indian leaders present at the ceremony Prime Minister Modi on Sunday wished the Dalai Lama and wished him good health and long life. At the same time, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and many other Indian leaders were also present at the ceremony held on the 90th birthday of Dalai Lama in Dharamshala.
The controversy started on 2 July with the statement of the Dalai Lama in Himachal. Here he said that the only right to recognize his successor is to the Tibetan Buddhist Gurus.
India’s Union Minister Kiren Rijiju supported the Dalai Lama’s statement on 3 July. Rijiju had said that the Dalai Lama should have the right to choose its successor. China expressed displeasure over this statement.

The conference was attended by major Lamas of various traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, Tibetan Parliament, Civil Society, organizations and representatives of the Tibetan community from all over the world.
China said- Dalai Lama cannot break 700 year old tradition
China had said that the process of choosing the next avatar of the Dalai Lama should be under the old religious rules and the laws of China, such as the tradition of extracting lottery from ‘Golden Kalash’ and the approval of the central government. China warned that these rules should be followed in future also, as it considers it a question of its sovereignty.
Posting on X, Chinese Ambassador to India, Shoo Faihong, wrote, “The 14th Dalai Lama has said that the tradition of the Dalai Lama will continue even further. However, the tradition of rebirth of Tibetan Buddhism living Buddha has been going on for 700 years. Faihong said-

The 14th Dalai Lama is part of this historical and religious tradition. The rebirth of the Dalai Lamas neither started from them, nor will they end due to them. The tradition is not to continue or the decision to eliminate is not only in the hands of the 14th Dalai Lama. They cannot decide alone whether the tradition of rebirth will run or not.
India said-does not talk about religious matter
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs (Mea) on Friday said on the succession of the Dalai Lama- The Government of India neither takes nor speaks on matters related to faith and religious practices.
