Religious importance of Muharram

Muharram is considered one of the four sacred months of Islam. The 10th of this month is called Ashura, which reminds of a very tragic event of Islamic history. On the same day, Imam Hussain, the Nawase of Prophet Mohammed, was martyred in the battle of Karbala in 680 AD. On this day, the Shia Muslim communities especially take out the procession, worship and organize Majlis. This day is celebrated with sorrow and reverence across the country.
