In the current financial year 2025-26, the advance tax collection increased by 3.87 percent to Rs 1.56 lakh crore during the current financial year 2025-26. A year ago, it recorded an annual increase of 27 percent in the same period. Advance tax filled by corporates increased by 5.86 percent to Rs 1.22 lakh crore on an annual basis. At the same time, the tax paid by non-corporates including individuals, HUFs and firms fell by 2.68 percent to Rs 33,928 crore. Advance tax is paid in 4 installments- June, September, December and March.
According to government data, the net direct tax has declined by 1.39 percent to Rs 4.59 lakh crore on an annual basis. Advanced tax collection remained light due to decline in tax collection and high refund. In 2024, a net direct tax collection of Rs 4.65 lakh crore was done during the same period. The net corporate tax collection from 1 April to 19 June 2025 stood at around Rs 1.73 lakh crore. This is a decline of over 5 percent compared to last year.
Non-corporate tax collection increased by 0.7 percent to Rs 2.73 lakh crore. This tax mainly includes personal income tax. The security transaction tax (STT) increased by 12 percent to Rs 13,013 crore during April 1 to June 19.
How much refund continued
In the current financial year 2025-26, the amount of refund issued by June 19 increased by 58 percent to Rs 86,385 crore. So far, the gross direct tax collection was Rs 5.45 lakh crore in the current financial year, which is 4.86 percent more than the same period of one year ago.

Government’s direct tax collection target in FY25
In the current financial year 2025-26, the government has estimated the direct tax collection to be Rs 25.20 lakh crore. This is 12.7 percent more than a year ago. The government has achieved 18.21 percent of its direct tax target by June 19. The government aims to get Rs 78,000 crore from STT in the current financial year.
