Fastag annual pass: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced the launch of Fastag’s annual pass for private vehicles. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on 18 June that the scheme will be applicable from 15 August 2025. This facility will be for non-commercial private vehicles like car, jeep and vans.

What is Fastag feature?
Fastag is a sticker, which you can apply on the windshield of your car. This will make automatic toll payment from the prepaid account linked while crossing the toll booth. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) uses technology for fastag payment.
You can recharge your fastag as per your need through UPI application and online banking. There is also a dedicated ‘My Fastag App’ for this.
What will be found in the new Fastag near?
Fastag’s annual pass will remain valid for one year or 200 toll trip (which is first completed). Its price will be ₹ 3,000. This will provide relief to those who travel repeatedly on the highway.
What will be saving from Fastag nearby?
If a traveler spends ₹ 60 on an average on an average, his total cost can be up to ₹ 12,000 on 200 trips. In such a situation, this annual pass Fastag of ₹ 3,000 can save him up to ₹ 9,000. However, the real savings will depend on how much your average cost per trip.
Where will this facility be available?
Passengers can buy an annual pass from the official website of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) along with the Mobile Applications. Fastag also has some conditions to be a nearby character:
- Your fastag should be properly applied on the windshield of the vehicle.
- It should be connected to a valid registration number.
- If Fastag is blacklist, you will not be eligible.
Will you have to take a new fastag?
No, you can get active on your existing fastag. Its activation is also very easy. After the verification of the fastag and the vehicle, the pass can be activated by paying ₹ 3,000.
You will not even need to take two fastag. The same fastag will work everywhere. Where this pass is not valid, the normal fee will be deducted.
Which toll plaza will be valid?
This pass will be valid only on the fees plaza on the National Highway and National Expressway. This pass will not be valid on the toll operated by the state governments.
Some important things related to fastag pass
- Re-activation: On completion of one year or 200 trip, you can re -activate the pass with a payment of ₹ 3,000. Otherwise your fastag will be normal.
- Alternative Arrangement: This is an alternative feature. If you do not want to take Fastag, you can pay toll at normal rates from the current fastag system.
- Just for private vehicles: This pass is only valid for private car, jeep and van. If used in a commercial vehicle, it will be deactivated.
- Definition of trip: Every crossing on the open toll plaza will be considered a trip. While an entry and exit in the closed highway system will be counted a trip.
- No transformation: This pass will be link to that particular vehicle and its fastag. No other vehicle can be transferred.
The ministry has hoped that this policy will not only simplify toll payment, but will also help reduce problems of jam, dispute and delay.
