Aadhaar update: If you have ever made rounds of Aadhaar Center to change the name, address or date of birth, then there is now news of relief. UIDAI i.e. Unique Identification Authority of India is soon going to provide the Aadhaar card’s Demographic details to update online from home. This means that details like name, address, date of birth, mobile number will be updated online. The special thing is that for this you will not have to go anywhere, just OTP will do everything.
Facility may be applicable by November 2025
According to the CNBC voice report, UIDAI can implement this feature by November 2025. Under this, Aadhaar holders will verify themselves with OTP coming on their registered mobile number, and then will be able to upload the necessary documents like passport, driving license or birth certificate.
This means that to change small demographic information, you neither need to put it in a long line, nor do you go to the center and wait for hours.
Biometric update will still be offline
However, if it is about biometric information, such as fingerprint or iris scan, it will still require to visit the Aadhaar Enrollment Center. This security is being done for reasons, so that your identity cannot be tampered with.
A new app for Aadhaar will also be launched
The report also states that UIDAI is creating a modern mobile app, through which the entire process will be easier. In this app, all the work related to Aadhaar update can be done digitally, and the need for physical documents will be very less.
This feature will be especially beneficial for those who live in far-flung areas, are elderly or whose ability to move is limited. These steps are also part of Digital India and Aadhaar governance reforms.
Free update facility increased by June 2026
There is another relief news related to Aadhaar. UIDAI has increased the deadline of the Free Document Update Service to 14 June 2026. This means that you can update your identity and proof of address (proof of address) without paying any fees by visiting the Myadhaar portal.
UIDAI has taken this step so that the purity of Aadhaar data remains and people keep updating their information from time to time. This is especially beneficial for those whose name or address has changed due to marriage, transfer or any other reason.
