Now Aadhaar will be necessary for TATKAL train ticket

From July 1, Aadhaar card has been made mandatory for booking Tatkal tickets through IRCTC website and mobile app. With this, ticket booking process will be transparent and fake booking will be prevented.

Now how will the immediate train ticket be booked?

At the same time, OTP based mobile number verification will be necessary on TATKAL ticket booked through computerized counters and authorized agents at the PRS counter ie the railway station from July 15. OTP will come on the mobile number given at the time of booking, without which the ticket will not be confirmed. According to the Railway Ministry, these steps have been taken so that the Tatkal scheme is not misused and this facility is true to the needy people.

Booking time for agents

Railways have decided to ban 30 minutes in booking time for authorized agents so that common people can book tickets first.

AC class tatkal tickets: Agents will not be able to book tickets from 10 am to 10:30 am.

Non-C Class tickets: The ban will be applicable from 11 am to 11:30 am.

A large number of Tatkal ticket booking occurs in the first 10-30 minutes. For example, more than 60% of tickets in AC class are sold in the first 10 minutes and 84% tickets in Non-A C class are sold in the first hour.

Action on fake booking and bots

IRCTC said that ticketing booking through fake and bot is being closely monitored. 2.5 crore fake user ID has been closed in the last 6 months. More than 20 lakh accounts are still under investigation. A special investigation will be done on the ID of users who do not do Aadhaar verification. These new rules are trying to make Tatkal ticket booking transparent, safe and easier for common people. This will curb those using fake agents and bots and the right train passengers will benefit.
